1. Who is the data controller?

MaeWest Software is the data controller for personal information collected through maewestsoftware.com and for licence records. For payments, Paddle.com Market Limited acts as an independent controller as merchant of record.

2. What we collect

• Contact enquiries — name, email, message content, and any deployment details you provide.
• Licence records — organisation name, contact email, tier purchased, and, if relevant, machine fingerprint used for licence activation.
• Site analytics — anonymous request logs (IP, user agent, path, timestamp) via our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security and abuse prevention.
• Payments — handled by Paddle; MaeWest receives transaction metadata (order id, amount, product) but does not receive full card details.

3. Why we use it

• To reply to enquiries and provide the software you have requested.
• To issue licence keys, notify you of bug-fix updates, and provide support.
• To detect abuse, protect against fraud, and secure the site.
• To meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations.

4. Legal bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

We rely on performance of a contract (licence delivery and support), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, prevention of misuse), and legal obligation (tax and accounting).

5. Sharing

We use a small set of processors: Cloudflare (hosting/CDN), Paddle (payments and tax), and an email provider for transactional email. We do not sell personal data. Processors are bound by data-processing agreements.

6. Retention

Enquiry emails are kept while the enquiry is open and for a reasonable follow-up period. Licence and invoicing records are kept for the period required by tax law (typically six years in the UK).

7. International transfers

Where a processor stores data outside the UK/EEA we rely on the UK IDTA / EU Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent adequacy mechanisms.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection to processing. Contact [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

9. Cookies

The main marketing site aims to run without tracking cookies. Any strictly necessary or preference cookies (for example a language toggle) will be disclosed here and inside a cookie banner if introduced.
